Juvenile Justice Reinvestment Initiative Functional Family Therapy Bids Awarded

PIERRE, S.D. – The Department of Social Services has awarded contracts for Functional Family Therapy (FFT) services statewide for justice involved youth and their families.

The services are a result of the Juvenile Justice Reinvestment Initiative which was passed in the 2015 Legislative Session.

FFT is an evidence-based, family focused program which targets high-risk youth to overcome adolescent behavior problems, conduct disorder, substance abuse and delinquency.

Awardees of the Department of Social Services Request for Proposal for the Juvenile Justice Reinvestment Initiative to provide Functional Family Therapy in the community are:

  • Behavior Management Systems, Inc.
  • Capitol Area Counseling
  • Community Counseling Services
  • Dakota Counseling Institute, Inc.
  • East Central Behavioral Health
  • Human Service Agency
  • Lewis & Clark Behavioral Health Services, Inc.
  • Lutheran Social Services
  • Northeastern Mental Health Center
  • Southeastern Behavioral Health
  • Southern Plains Behavioral Health Services
  • Three Rivers Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Center

Through a combination of the above awarded agencies, FFT services will be provided throughout the state of South Dakota.

The South Dakota Juvenile Justice Reinvestment Initiative is a collaborative, comprehensive and data driven initiative to increase public safety, effectively hold juvenile offenders accountable and reduce juvenile justice costs.
